- $75.00 - Member
This class meets online on Zoom beginning at 2pm on Tuesday, December 1.
Your class confirmation email will contain the Zoom class link.
Explore creative ways to use photographs of favorite animals and beloved pets to create a unique keepsake or gift. This class will take you through the drawing and painting stages to create at least one pastel painting. Betsy will share ideas about how to use cropping options to enhance your photo and ways to select representational and “fun” color combinations. She will also show how to create proportional sketches based on your photograph that will then translate to a painting of the same proportional size.
Sketchbook, pencil, pen, charcoal, a ruler, black marker, and rubbing alcohol.
Selection of hard and soft pastels and pastel pencils to meet your view of your animal. Does not have to be realistic so come with a wide variety of choices of colors!
Preference for sanded pastel paper such as UArt, Pastelmat, Pastel Premier, or Art Spectrum. If you do not purchase sanded papers, Canson MiTeines is a good alternative.
Backing board to tape your pastel paper to for support.
Easel or slanted surface to work
Pet or animal photographs, preferably in both print and digital forms. You will email a digital image to Betsy. Photos can be cropped digitally and printed, or paper copy will be folded or cut to crop.
Plastic sheet protector or very clear tracing paper so you can draw on your photograph.
Email Betsy with any questions before or after class at email@example.com
ONLINE WITH ZOOM
You will need to be sure the Zoom app is installed on your device. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing a secure link to join the class.
You will be able to login 15 minutes before the class start time. We recommend logging in before the class starts to make sure you are settled in and ready to go when the class is set to begin.
If you are new to Zoom, please note that we will not be able to help with the app. It is strongly recommended that you navigate Zoom on your own before the class starts to get to know the mute and video settings. Try it out by talking with a friend or family member who has the Zoom app. The Cultural Center uses Zoom to conduct online classes, and I understand that the Zoom meeting will be recorded.
